Thought it was time to load UT for some Lan action.

My other machine is running Win98 suicide edition.

UT runs great on it.

Tried launching Lan game on XP machine (NOT)

Tried launching Lan game on Win98 machine (No Problem)

Tried to join on XP machine (NOT)

Not sure whats up.

My XP machine is the server & my 98SE machine can access net & share files. XP machine can access 98se machine. (No Problem)

When I try to join Lan game on XP machine my system locks heavy.

CTRL-ALT-DELETE does nothing.

Have to restart machine by holding power button in for 5sec

Tried 436v update (NOT)

Im a A+ Tech & build about 8 systems a day. Just thought I'd mention that im not a newby.

Just thought it was time for a little UT.

What a nightmare its been.

Any Help would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

runs fine here, also ran fine when using a gf2mx-400, Try using other detonator drivers (like the 8.04's). I have no idea why it wouldn't run on XP, you said you installed the 4.36 patch, which is cool, but most people will notice that v4.00 will run on XP no problems. let me ask you...does it only hang when trying to start a lan game, or does it also do it when trying to play single player?

I have a GF2 Ultra on an Asus a7v133 AMD machine with Xp. I'm not using *any* of the 4n1's, and I have the 21.83's loaded. I have Gtu3.12beta loaded, and cranked on fastwrites, sidebanding, overclocked. The worx.

Ut runs outstanding. I had absolutely no luck with the 4.35's-4.37's. 4.32 was the last 4n1's that were stable on this machine, but that was under Win2k/Me dual boot. I dual Xp/Me now.

Sounds like you've got a driver problem in there somewhere. You might try chucking the 4n1's, and running the 21.83's before anything else. Xp's udma5 IDE speed is good without the 4n1's, according to Sandra and Hdtach.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will try changing my drivers & maybe even Ghost back prior to via4in1 install. I will post my results.
