HP Scanner not recognizing Picture It! Photo 2001

Just purchased an HP Scanjet 4400C. While the scanner software recognizes Microsoft Office, Access, Image, etc..... it doesn't recognize Picture It! Photo 2001 as being on the system. Can't get into Microsoft's site to ask why. Any ideas?
