WindowsXP Logon Screen

Recommended Posts

Hello there!

Yesterday my Welcome Logon Screen (where you click a user you want) just changed to the one like in Windows 2000 (you need to type username in a textbox)...

How can I change it back to WindowsXP default Logon screen?

I tried in Control Panel | User Accounts | Change the way users log on or off...

And "[x] Use the Welcome screen" was already checked.

I unchecked it, rebooted the system... Then I checked it back agan, reboted the system and I am still having this Windows 2000 - like logon screen...

So I think that something terribly went wrong...

What coult it be?

Do I need to change logon screen somewhere else or what?

BTW: Since logging on at the Welcome screen is not available on computers that are members of a network domain, I must tell that I am not a member of any domain, I am running just a small home workgroup network... And Welcome Screen Logon worked fine till yesterday... I didn't install anything special that could modify the login files (like PC Anywhere does...)

Does anyone know anything about those Login files?

Please help me. smile

My bad. If you are in classic login mode (where you need to enter the user name) then click on cancel should return you to Win XP default login screen. If you are in Win XP default login screen hit alt + ctrl + del will change you to classic login mode (make should you didn't click on any username. I am using Win XP Pro and the only time I use the classic login mode is when I want to login as the administrator.

Also try checking this setting: Go to Control Panel -> User Accounts. Choose "Change the way users log on or off." Check the box for "Use the Welcome Screen."
