OLEerror 0 Posted January 22, 2002 Compatibility Mode basically lies to the program you use it on. It intercepts calls to certain APIs and Registry entries and returns and answer that satisfies the query. It's actually not a completely new tool. Windows 95 has a partial implementation that allows you to fool the program into thinking (in some cases) your extended memory is base RAM. The Compatibility Mode in 2000/XP just builds upon that.
