internet connection need help

i just install win2k and when i try to surf the web IE says i am not connected but i have cable if i click on try again i then have no problem how do i tell win2k i am allways connected i have the setting on lan and every thing works it just when i start IE i all ways have to hit try again

I had the exact same problem. I never found any solution but installing IE6. Install internet explorer 6 and the it should work fine.

Under the Tools menu, select Internet Options. Click the Connections tab then the LAN Settings button. Make sure that Automatically detect settings is selected.

i all ready did that didnt help but IE 6 did
