sapiens74 0 Posted January 25, 2002 After having a recent bout with Qwest I want to know what your Opinions are on so called high speed internet. My first of impression is that it's a joke. In korea I got 5 Mb DSL for 26 bucks a month. And they installed in within 2 days of ordering. Here 4 months later I still don't have DSL. And 50 bucks a month for a mere 768k Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted January 25, 2002 In the US, it's a bit different because of all the inter and intra state regulations that telcos have to cut through in order to provide service, hence the delay in rollout of DSL. Cable, on the other hand, doesn't have as many road blocks and usually gets rolled out faster. I have used Road Runner for almost a year and a half, and have had maybe 3 outages (there was a 10 month gap between the last 2) which were mostly due to "growing pains" of the network. I am rated at 1.5M/384K, but I tend to run closer to 1.9M/384K. And, since I have basic cable, I get this for $40/month. Share this post Link to post
Palos 0 Posted January 26, 2002 Broadband in Yurop sucks...if you're one of the lucky ones to jump onto the bandwagon, you get too little for what you pay. I have a DSL flatrate, 768/128, for 50 Euro/month (same in US$ i guess). GO figure...Up north, they got much better deals, Sweden, Denmark and Holland. I guess the situation is like this because of the "state owned" TelCo that basically has a monopoly and they can charge whatever they feel like. I am using a private provider (Vodafone), having their own backbones, but the "last mile" from the PBX to my home is still 0wn3d by the mighty "Telecom". SIMPLY LAME Share this post Link to post
