Printing in IE6

Recommended Posts

I have checked back to the last 100 days of posting and have not seen this question posted so if it has sorry but here it is. My dad asked me why he can no longer highlight text on a web page and print just the highlighted area. I tried this on my system and sure enough highlighting an area and sending to the printer prints the entire document. Other than copying the text that you require to a word proc and printing from there is there a simple setting that can be changed to allow highlighted areas only to be printed directly from a web sight?

Thanx in advance.

I wonder.

Has he changed printers recently, or upgraded drivers? The printing environment is almost entirely under the control of the print driver, and any options that you need will most likely be located under file, print, options or advanced.

Also, did this work under a previous version of IE, or under ver 6, and just stop working?

Highlight the area and then go to File -> Print.. (do not click print on the toolbar). The option is in there to print selection only.

To answer your question first pbuckne the problem was present prior to the installation of IE6 and continues now. No new printers or drivers were installed during the time that he noticed he could no longer print.Thank you for your reply.

Now to your answer xiven, this is the way that he normally tries to print and I have tried to print from both the toolbar and through the file tab and print. Thank you for your reply.

Still no luck and I have noticed that all of my comps ( 4 in total ) do not allow the printing of any highlighted areas only after reading both of your replies. ie: went to diablo.net page , highlighted 1 paragraph on the home page and went to file & print and opened the printer to locate pages and file size. 7 pages were to be printed from the single highlighted paragraph. Needless to say thats not what I had intended on printing.

Again thanks for both your replies and if anyone has another suggestion please feel free to reply.

Thanks in advance.
