Got cought in a reboot loop!

Recommended Posts

Now i'm shocked 8)

i did not disable autoreboot in winxp. ok, that was my failure.. but now i need to get out of this reboot loop!

no boot-options work, and i've no idea how to get this bsod message... i'm sure it's nothing really serious, but i cannot read _that_ fast, windows shows up the bsod and reboots.. and this break-key does not work.

frown

any ideas???

When it gets to the boot screen, have you tried "Use Last Known Good Configuration"?

If that didn't work, I would suggest re-installing XP...

Aye-aye-aye! Sorry I didn't see this earlier. I'll post this just in case it might help someone else. Whe you get caught in a boot loop just hit F8 during the first part of the boot process (right after POST). When presented with the white-on-black menu choose Safe Mode. This lets you boot to safe mode to get rid of whatever it was that you installed (or undo whatever it was that you did to the system) just before the loop started. Safe Mode lets you deal with this stuff because it loads only the most basic drivers, eliminating the errant driver (and all other non-essential drivers) from the boot process.

Oh, sorry. I wasn't sure from the way you worded the initial message that you had tried Safe Mode. Wasn't sure what you meant by options.

That's weird. I've never seen even a bad install that was capable of preventing WinXP from getting to Safe Mode. Did you figure out what it was that borked the system?
