max payne, voodoo2 and xp ?

Recommended Posts

Have anyone gotten max payne to work with voodoo2 in xp ?

I have gotten halflife and diablo2 to use my voodoo2 card now (with drivers originally from this site i think) but when i start up max payne and am prompted to select 3d card i only get 1 option, my ati rage pro crappy d3d card.

How can i get max to see my v2 ?

Sorry, but no-one in their right mind is gonna 'upgrade' to a now defunct and unsupported family of graphics cards i.e. Voodoo 3 or 5.
Spend as little as £40 and get a gef2mx400 if money is tight.
If money isn't tight, then get a GTS/Pro version.

I agree.

As much as I love 3dfx cards (still work great for UT), get a GeForce card. Remember that the GeForce2 MX 200 is actually _slower_ than the original MX. So, if you're going budget, get the GeForce2 MX 400. If you want the best performance, look for one with faster than reference RAM (5ns RAM will pull 186Mhz opposed to 166) and as that card's main bottleneck affecting performance is RAM speed, it'll help.

They have PCI versions out also, in case stuck with an integrated AGP port.

Here's some upgrade advice from eVGA, a vid card maker (their MX400 models use 5ns RAM chips) about cleaning the 3dfx files from your computer, prior to installing a new card.

Wakkawakka you are trying to work out a very lethal combination. Max Payne is a quite hungry game, and Voodoo 2 is not (and never will be) supported on winXP.I had a friend with a voodoo 2 card and i founf lots of drivers made by coders around the internet, but trust me none worked.

The guys are right.Either upgrade to another gfx card or install win98(yuck) and you'll be fine(for the game only of course, after you install 98 you'll be running around forums in order to find answers to hundreds of ananswered questions about this OS!)

Anyway the unofficial drivers for the voodoo's 1/2 can't be used in direct3d games (like maxpayne) so forget it, same thing in win2k.
