pmistry 0 Posted January 30, 2002 I am in the market for a new NIC. I am thinking Linksys LNE100TX, its fairly cheap and has good performance, also a Netgear FA311, anybody have good or bad opinions on these? What about a Cicero? BTW, the card must work with all versions of Windows. 95, 98/ME, 2K, and XP. Share this post Link to post
brandongeek 0 Posted January 30, 2002 I always stick with 3Com, i have never had one fail and they are not that expensive. Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted January 30, 2002 Intel Pro/100 Management Adapters, and now the ones with IPSEC handled in hardware (designated with an "S"). Share this post Link to post
AndyFair 0 Posted January 30, 2002 Hmmm...depends on what you're planning on hooking it up to - certain hubs and other NICs don't like talking to certain other networking kit - I think NetGear are the worst affected though! Rgds AndyF Share this post Link to post
pmistry 0 Posted January 30, 2002 I may use it for my @Home service as my USB one is getting in the way. I may also use it to network my PC with my old PC which runs WIndows 95. I came across some other brands like D-Link and Belkin, any thoughts on these? Share this post Link to post
JP- 0 Posted January 30, 2002 Strangely enough i have some of both those cards that you mentioned. The linksys and the netgear. The netgear had trouble in my via system but apart from that they are exactly the same really, authough i prefer the linksys. Either would be fine really. Share this post Link to post
