Just wanted to know if it's possible

Recommended Posts

Here my network layout. 2 buildings, Servers and switch on one building connected to a switch from the other building via an arial CAT5. I want to have a back up switchs/hubs in place in case the cable snap (Storm, tall truck). I was thinking about setting up a wireless hubs between buildings. (keep in mind this is a temporary solution until the lines are back up so it may be only at 10Mbit).

I've found some access point hub but I don't have much info if it's possible to do what I have mention above. Has anyone set one up?? Are they even practical??

It is certainly possible, and many have used wireless for their networks in a similar method. If it only is temporary, you could go with a lower cost solution and just kep it ready in case it is needed. Test it out so that you know what to do if that cable snaps. Also plan for possibly having one or more of the existing switches damaged from whatever might break the cable.

There used to be a company called Aironet, but I think they were bought out by Cisco. Give their website a try.
