Palos 0 Posted February 18, 2002 Check @ http://www.station.sony.com/planetside/ It looks absolutely awesome...what do you guys think? Share this post Link to post
sapiens74 0 Posted February 18, 2002 Nope. Sony is making it. should tell you something Share this post Link to post
sapiens74 0 Posted February 19, 2002 So far my picks are W3 or MOH, but a ton of games are coming out this year Share this post Link to post
SHS 0 Posted February 19, 2002 let see we have Unreal2, Doom3 come this yrs so if I'am rigth I think Doom3 Going top them all fellow by Unreal2. As far the best over all game out that is Half-Life it win hands down in fact out rank All Quake1,2,3 and add in Unreal1,2 when it come time to find a game server to play on last time I it well over 10,000+ server WoW. Palos 0 Posted February 19, 2002 I know Doom 3 is gonna be a jaw-dropper, but the concept behind Planetside is what sets it apart. Maps with sizes of 3 sq.km, vehicles and hundreds of online players...the gfx don't look that bad either. So what if Sony produces it? Share this post Link to post
JP- 0 Posted February 19, 2002 tbh i think unreal 2 will be better than doom 3, doom is just gonna be another quake game with different shades of poo coloured textures everywere (which about the top 2% of gamers will actually have the hardware to run). Unreal 2 looks much 'nicer', outdoor settings, and great graphics that will run on my current setup. Also it might even have a story Doom 3 just reminds me of quake 2 with better graphics. JP- 0 Posted February 19, 2002 Also just noticed that game has a monthly fee to play, so it wont be game of the year ;( Share this post Link to post
Palos 0 Posted February 19, 2002 Have you played Microsoft's online game called Asheron's Call? It's kinda old, but I saw it on a friend's PC and it looked very interesting...same huge a$$ maps, takes 1 day (realtime) to walk North to South. Has villages where players meet and exchange tips, weapons, magic items & stuff. Just check on EBay how much those crap items are valued at... Dunno, but the current gaming world (FPS) is stalling...nicer graphics, but there is no interactivity. Let alone the storyline. One thing is to play a deathmatch/CTF map in 16 players, another is to play realtime with another 2000. Imagine the possibilities...I'm not saying that Sony is going to get it right from the start, but the gameplay idea is what counts. Share this post Link to post

From what I've been reading, I agree, Unreal 2 is looking more impressive: on gameplay, on graphics, on animation, and also on scalability. But, as far as game of the year? Deus Ex 2 might also be in the running (if of course, it is released this year). (DX2 will also use the Unreal Engine)Unreal II FAQ Share this post Link to post
JP- 0 Posted February 22, 2002 That quote should go on the back of the Unreal 2 box ! Share this post Link to post

ConQueso 0 Posted February 24, 2002 Yes, UT does rule. Have you been to ModSquad and Nali City? Share this post Link to post
harlock 0 Posted February 25, 2002 i dont know about game of the year but i am definitly looking foward to it,ive never payed a subscription fee before but i just might with this one.i just wish halo had come out on the pc kinda similar to planetside but thing was the whole team based play not just capture the flag and what not but based on what abilities your good at i.e driving, shooting, flying etc...and having to work together to acomplish goals like having a gunner for the buggy and someone else driving that kinda teamwork. pmistry 0 Posted March 4, 2002 Last year was pretty dry for games, only a few outstanding titles like Max Payne. This year though, I have already had fun with Serious Sam: 2nd Encounter. I can't wait to get my hands on Jedi Knight II. Soldier of Fortune 2 looks amazing from the trailers. Doom 3 should be good too, let's hope ID makes some better gameplay refinements over Quake 2. After all Quake 2 was their last single player game. They didn't do much with RTCW. I am betting Unreal 2 will beat Doom 3's single player capability. However, I think both games are going to need some serious hardware to run. The original Unreal promised to run on current hardware and it failed. You needed a P2 back then for that game. PlanetSide might fail cuz Sony has a crappy track record for games outside of Playstation, however looks like an interesting Tribes like game. In the end though, Deus Ex 2 is what I really WANT. Brian Frank 0 Posted March 7, 2002 RtCW was a lame FPS game. I'm waiting for Unreal 2 and Jedi Knight II to hit. Share this post Link to post
harlock 0 Posted March 7, 2002 unreal 2 is the main one im waiting for among others i loved unreal and unreal tournament.besides the graphics look simply amazing i just hope the gameplay is just as equally good Share this post Link to post
bobbinbrisco 0 Posted March 9, 2002 i dont think half-life or max payne was very good. quake3 is my current favourite. these are the following games ppl should out for: 1. Unreal 2 2. WarCraft 3 3. Doom 3 never underestimate ID Software. does anybody remember playing doom2 in the good ol' days where co-operative gameplay was possible? Share this post Link to post
pmistry 0 Posted March 10, 2002 Max Payne was OK, but lacked longevity. ID games have longevity there are still a lot of people that play Quake 2 and even Quake. Also the original Doom community is stronger than ever. www.doomworld.com People still make WADS. I hate Half-Life, I don't know why so many people loved it. It was just another shooter, but it does have longevity and people are addicted to that game. Share this post Link to post
Catdog02 0 Posted April 3, 2002 Have non of you played Operation Flashpoint? Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted April 3, 2002 Anyone that likes FPS games must get Jedi Knight II. It's the first FPS game that's long and enjoyable. Still waiting for Unreal 2 of course and DX 2. I've also been hearing some stuff about a new game called "Kreed". Looks pretty nice too. Share this post Link to post
JP- 0 Posted April 3, 2002 Yeah jedi knight 2 "rocks" Good game, especially with the lightsaber, almost finished the game and i dont think ive used a gun for ages Share this post Link to post
