shassouneh 0 Posted February 22, 2002 Hi All, I am quite sad to find out my favorite NES emulator, RockNESX has severe sound problems under XP. This is due to the funky changes Micro$oft decided to make in XP regarding sound emulation and time-frame skipping etc.. Note that this software used Microsoft DirectX 8.0 This problem is NOT present in Windows 2000, so I do know its a windows XP problem. My Question is, is there a way to revert to the Windows 2000 way of handling sound? Maybe disabling XP's funky sound stuff? Note: I tried Windows 2000 Compatiblity mode, as well as NT4 compatibility mode, and windows 95, and windows 98 modes too! and they did not help at all! Help Another computer science like me avoid his C++ assignment some more! NOTE TO MODERATOR(S): I am terribly sorry if this is posted in the wrong section, however, I did not know where to put it, and seeing as it is a sound problem, I figured its close enlough to hardware to be put here. Please forgive me if it should have been placed somwhere else! Share this post Link to post
pmistry 0 Posted February 22, 2002 Alot of emulators have incompatibility issues under XP. The big one is NeoRage X. I use JNes for NES emulation, it works great under XP. http://www.emulator-zone.com/nes/jnes.html Share this post Link to post
shassouneh 0 Posted February 22, 2002 JNes works great but the screen size is way too small! Eben at FUll Screen 640x480 !!! Share this post Link to post
pmistry 0 Posted February 22, 2002 However, I went ahead and downloaded Rock NES X 2.0 Beta 3, and the sound was fine. Using an SB Live! Player 1024 on Windows XP Professional. Share this post Link to post
pmistry 0 Posted February 22, 2002 Click Options > Video > Window > 768x672 that is what I use. Or go fullscreen. This is for Jnes Share this post Link to post
shassouneh 0 Posted February 22, 2002 I want to to do it fullscreen, but even at 1024x768 resolution, It only takes up a very small portion of the screen at the center. There is a good emulator that works fine under Windows 2000 called RockNESX, its porobably the BEST NES emulator out there, but it suffers under Windows XP due to Windows XP's very funky sound handling stuff. Is there ANY WAY to revert to old school windows 2000 style? REPEAT QUESTION: IS THERE ANY WAY TO DISABLE WINDOWS XP FNK SOUND HANDLING AND REVERT TO AN OLD WIN2k-STYLE ???
