Dredd 0 Posted February 22, 2002 I recently reformatted and reinstalled my Windows 2000 Server. When I am trying to configure the server in the opening screen, to tell it, that it is the only server. It tells me that another one is within the network. That is incorrect. What can I do to correct this issue? Share this post Link to post
ryoko 0 Posted February 23, 2002 Try disconnecting it from the network. If it is the only server, then it may be an issue with the clients. I'm taking a shot in the dark on this one as I really don't have enough info to be sure. -RY Share this post Link to post
jimbo 0 Posted June 29, 2003 Also check this: If you have two Network cards and Netbeui bound to both it will sometimes think there is another machine on the network with the same name. Disable Netbeui on one of them if this is the case. Jimbo Share this post Link to post
AndyFair 0 Posted June 30, 2003 Another thing to check is whether you have a TCPIP copier/printer sitting on the network. Sometimes with some of the larger machines, they may announce themselves to the network as a server (as I speak, on our network there is one RIP that is calling itself "Win98 Server", and one calling itself "Win2000 server") Rgds AndyF Share this post Link to post
DS3Circuit 0 Posted July 6, 2003 Static WINS or DNS entries would also do this. Tombstone all WINS entries. Delete all DNS entries. Share this post Link to post
