liveware3 fix does NOT WORK on SMP

Recommended Posts

I have tried and retried the "fix" thats been circulating, but it does not work on SMP.

The source of the problem appears to be the fact that the "SETUP" utility of liveware3 dies without installing anything when you run it on an SMP machine. I have tried using the "patch" that creative provided a while back at various points during the installation of the fix to no avail.

does anyone have more info on this?

Definitely doesn't work on my system (I have the liveware 3 cd). No sound whatsoever. CTLauncher loads on start up but freezes and has to be killed on shutdown. I removed the drivers and restored from my Win2k RC2 cd and sound is back. I would strongly recommend poeple do not try this "Fix"

Oh bugger its crashed again

Have you tried installing the standard PC kernel, installing liveware 3 and then upgrading back to MPS SMP kernel?

I havn't yet, I'm not by my machine, but at least the drivers will install -> & then u can see if they work with SMP.

I got bp6 dual 366's @ 78fsb, and the liveware3 itself actually does install for me, but the driver thing dont work properly. I can install those nt drivers in the lw3 installation like the instructions say, but the soundcard reports no drivers were loaded. NO sound. frown.gif. Then again, I'm using 2128 and also have a sb awe32 pnp as well as an sblive value in the system. I'm going to try to do it two ways: take out the sb32, or get 2151.

I think there is an option like /onecpu for the boot.

Don t know how to set up it but think it could be done in the multiboot and will give us something like:

windows 2000

windows 2000 one cpu

previous system on c:

good call

if type

[onecpu]" /onecpu this will only use the first processor

[numproc]" /numproc=n where n=cpu #

you need to put this into your boot.ini file after the win2k os or nt4 os string...

I have the "SAME" problem with 'Reaper'.

Liveware 3.0 was installed well, without crash..

But driver propertiy tell me it has no driver. =(

and 1. I use w2k 2151, and 2. i have no another sound card.

I have trouble with installing Live! when i use linux. (cannot use at all)

SMP and Live! looks like a dog and a cat.

Would I sell Live or my one cpu and board?

Well got lw3 to work on my bp6 by following the fix dirrections on this site. But you can't use smp kernal. it"s gotta be switched to standard pc. Switching back after install kills sound, big bummer.
