nasty stutter in colin mcrae rally 2

I got stutter when playing CMR2 with any detonator version (rigth now i'm using version 27.70).

The framrate is about 30 to 40 FPs which is smooth, but sometimes the game stutters as if it's swapping, the framerate stays well above 30...

 

Anyone knows what's going on? Also, i tried with and without vsync, nothing changes.

done the 'Complete' install?

 

If not, the swapping might be due to cdrom access.

i seem to have found the problem. When i play in a power user account the game runs fluid. But in the administrator account it's choppy.
