iks 0 Posted March 21, 2002 Hello all... I have Microsoft Windows Messenger 4.6 installed and since yesterday it won't run. Everything is working great, but when the system starts there's no Messenger running as all the days before it was. Okay - I tried to run it manually from Start | All Programs | Windows Messenger (or ...\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe) and only hourglass (busy mouse cursor) appears for a second or two and then nothing. Messenger won't run. There's nothing in tray, nothing like 'msmsgs...' in Task Manager's Processes list... Nothing strange in Event Viewer... Just nothing to track my problem... I edited the \Windows\Inf\sysoc.inf file to find and remove Messenger but I couldn't find it in Windows Components dialog, so I deleted all the files in \Program Files\Messenger\ and reinstalled the Messenger, but it won't work any better. No luck so far... Thanks again for reading this and any help you could give. Share this post Link to post
Helmann 0 Posted March 21, 2002 Are you logging on as an administrator. If not and you have messenger 4.6 then u wont be able to use it. To get messenger 4.6 to work with user groups other than admin you will need to uninstall 4.6 then install 4.5. Load messenger with all user that need to use it then reinstall 4.6 with an admin account. Messenger 4.6 should then work fine. Share this post Link to post
