Ekstreme 0 Posted March 31, 2002 G'day all. I did some slot swapping and now have devices showing such as this: Realtek RTL8029(AS) PCI Ethernet Adapter #2 How do I find and remove #1? I also have some devices removed that I want to remove properly. In the case of the nic, I get errors when assigning IPs saying that another nic already ahs that IP address. I have tried show all in device manager and safe mode but I cannot see the hidden devices. TIA Ekstreme Share this post Link to post
Alien 1 Posted March 31, 2002 Try removing/deleting any & all mentions of the offending devices in Device Manager, then shutdown & physically remove them, boot up, shut down, then reinstall - has been known to work for me @ times. Share this post Link to post
Ekstreme 0 Posted March 31, 2002 All the card have already been removed. This won't help Share this post Link to post
Cynan 0 Posted April 1, 2002 You got this because you didn't uninstall the device before you changed its slot. Maybe you could put it in the original place and Windows will see it again so that you can remove it? Is that too much hassle? The way I would do it, and have done it before, is load up the Registry Editor and search for the device name and just delete every key that it finds. If it says anything like you don't have the permission (which I'm sure it will), then go to the Edit menu and to Permissions, and grant 'Everyone' full access. Sorted. --Cynan.
