Well, since you've formatted there's not alot we can get you to try.

I would point to either a virus, or just doing a good old disk defrag.

some Netgear netcards not plugged into anything will do this same thing. Windows seems to lock up for 5 or 10 seconds and then unlocks, only to repeat the process all over. The fix for that is to disable the card in Device Manager or plug it into a hub or other net device.

Defragged all drives, running NAV 7.6 Corporate and my netgear card is plugged into the Cable Modem.

58°C ? Is the computer itself an integral part of the central heating system in that house??? smile It may be within tolerance levels set by AMD or Intel or whoever, but I'd be a tad concerned if my system got that warm. [my system & CPU both currently running @ 30°C, with only 2 case fans (not including PSU fan) ]

The Temperature seems to be a bit high. Noticed you have an IBM drive. There was some news about certain IBM drives not being left on for more than seven hours a day. Apparently, they can become flaky. With all internet news, you have to take it with a grain of salt, but type in the name of the hard drive in Google or one of the search engines to see if someone else has had this happen.

Well, I don't have the same model, but I do have an IBM HDD & you do have to be careful about letting it get too warm. Letting it get too hot is just asking for trouble - hence why my next PC part purchase after my new mobo & CPU will be a HDD cooler.

Well, it's becoming my standard solution to lots of things but some NICs (my 3Com ones for example) are by default trying to autodetect best speed all the time. Once you set them to a defined speed, they behave, and so does Windoze.
