Marktait 0 Posted April 6, 2002 I recently got my new comp hoem after a mate built it up. It was working fine but when i turned it on last night it comes up with this Award Bootblock Bios V1.0 Bios Rom Checksum error Insert diskette and press enter and gives a loud beep before this, no bios screen is displayed either and i have read the manual and it says if this occurs then the backup bios should kick in. What disk is it after as it seems to want me to reflash bios. Thanx Share this post Link to post
sapiens74 0 Posted April 6, 2002 Try setting the jumper to clear the cmos first then see what happens Share this post Link to post
Champion_R 0 Posted April 6, 2002 I think that the Award Bootblock BIOS is a built in BIOS recovery thingy. I think it allows you to boot up and flash the BIOS in the event of a corrupted BIOS. Personally, I think you should try and ring the dealer where you brought the board from before attempting anything. Share this post Link to post
Marktait 0 Posted April 6, 2002 The dealer is a mate and i have already rang him and he dont have a clue, i thought the same thing but it doesnt give me any options to reflash bios by booting to backup bios. I can get into dos but when i do the keyboard is disabled by the computer. Share this post Link to post
Champion_R 0 Posted April 7, 2002 When I had this message on my system, I rang the shop where I brought it, they said that I should bring it back. What kind of Keyboard are you using USB or PS/2. The Bootblock BIOS is very basic. It provides very basic keyboard access (no numeric keypad). Try another keyboard and see if it helps Try ringing the place where the parts were purchased and see what they have to say. Share this post Link to post
Marktait 0 Posted April 7, 2002 Ok! rang my supplier and he was inplying that i had been in the CMOS and had corrupted the BIOS 1. I haven't been in the bios 2. If i had, i know what im doing anyway 3. How the he11 could i corrupt the fu(k1ng BIOS I thought the whole point in the Dual Bios was to stop this from happening? Does Gigabyte give a service like ASUS where you can send the motherboard directly to Gigabyte themseleves and have them check it over? Share this post Link to post
Champion_R 0 Posted April 7, 2002 I don't know. The dealer should reflash the BIOS. Share this post Link to post
