GTwannabe 0 Posted April 25, 2002 Ok, after adding my 120gig hard disk, I've maxed out my IDE controllers. Currently have the Orb drive disabled, and I have a Zip drive laying around which I can put in the system. If I get a PCI IDE controller card, will I be able to use 6 or 8 IDE devices? Brian Frank 0 Posted April 25, 2002 You can use the IDE controllers (4) on the mobo, plus the ones on the addon card (at least another 4). Just keep in mind that you can only use these cards for hard drives, nothing else. Share this post Link to post
adrianhall 0 Posted April 25, 2002 Sure about that, My Dad's got a Mitsumi CD-R running on his Promise card? Share this post Link to post
Brian Frank 0 Posted April 25, 2002 If it's a RAID specific card, not a add in ATA controller (non-RAID), that may pose a problem. It may work, it may not. HighPoint controllers are hdd specific, as well as Promise RAID cards (especially ones on motherboards). Share this post Link to post
