(NTFS) The second HD i want to install Windows 98 (FAT32) WinXP is already installed. If I boot and try to install win98 in drive D: will it work fine? I mean... WinXP will find this other SO in its boot menu? And WIN98 will work fine too? thx in advance Share this post Link to post
vr6stress 0 Posted May 3, 2002 the best way i've found is to do it the other way around, install 98 then install xp. 98 can't handle boot thing (lol..i forgot the term) otherwise you would need a piece of software to set it up right... Share this post Link to post
Dirty Harry 0 Posted May 3, 2002 Or you switch boot drive in bios. If you want to do this, unplug the other HD when you install. H. Share this post Link to post
Eloise 0 Posted May 8, 2002 Isn't there something about having to install XP using FAT32 if you're dual booting with 98? I dual booted 98se with XP for awhile, I swear someone told me that... Share this post Link to post
CrazyKillerMan 0 Posted May 8, 2002 Well....win98 will not be able to read the NTFS partition, so if thats what you are referencing in the last message. As far as dual booting, installing win98 first would be choice. Windows XP will see this afterwards and configure its boot.ini file to reflect having two operating systems.
