CeRbErO 0 Posted May 16, 2002 Hi. I'm having some major problems with my CD-R/RW unit, a Samsung SW-408B . It doesn't support Burn-Proof technology, but even when i have about 220 mb's of RAM free, and I do nothing else at the same time, I will get buffer underruns. One of three cd's I try to burn get ruined because of this, so I'm loosing money cause of it . I'm using Nero in WinXP mainly, but I have the same problem with CDRWin. Does anyone know what I can do to prevent this from happeing? At least a little bit.. Thanks. Share this post Link to post
Palos 0 Posted May 16, 2002 How much virtual memory you have? Nero seems to hog a lot of RAM while burning, even with Burnproof enabled drives. Share this post Link to post
CeRbErO 0 Posted May 16, 2002 I have 1.5 gigs of virtual memory, spread out over three partitions, and two physical drives... Share this post Link to post
Sampson 0 Posted May 16, 2002 For best throughput, the CD-RW unit should be attached to the Secondary IDE device as the Master with DMA enabled. Some of the factors for buffer underruns - speed of the processor, other tasks in RAM, fragmented hard disk. Be sure that you have the latest firmware. Believe this unit has an XP upgrade available. Burn Audio CD at 6X not 8X though it says it is rated at 8X. Share this post Link to post
