Nostra 0 Posted May 16, 2002 Hi everyone, I have unsuccessfully attempted to establish a TCP/IP connection between a winNT 4.0 and winXP (pro) computer using a "two-way network cable". Measures taken: 1. Established a workgroup on both computers called "workgroup" (very creative) 2. Configured so both computers have same IP-number except for the last two digits (169....). 3. Completed the (silly) home-network installation wizard. But, as mentioned, my computers doesnt seem to be connected (I tried to "ping" the other computer's IP address as well). What I'm I missing here? TIA, /Mikael Share this post Link to post
Davros 0 Posted May 16, 2002 Use ip's of 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2. Also use a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 for both. And make sure you are using a crossover cable if the computers are connected directly to each other. Share this post Link to post
