violent 0 Posted May 21, 2002 Typical scenario: when I try to play them, windows media player contacts the site activex.microsoft.com trying to download appropriate audio codec (couple of times), gives error message and then plays the file with no sound. I looked up the downloaded file in temporary internet files -- it's called msaudio[1].cab. Inside are: MSADDS32.AX and MSAUDIO.INF. Tried to install it manually, didn't work. I can see the codec in WinNT/System32/ but the system doesn't. I bet all it needs is some entry in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE /SOFTWARE/ /Microsoft/ /Windows NT/ /CurrentVersion/ /Drivers32 Anyway, I installed new WMP codecs, AC3 filters and still no go. polarcat 0 Posted May 21, 2002 Try installing Nimo Codec Pack: http://nimo.everwicked.com During setup unselect everything else, except: DivX ;-) Audio and Windows Media Audio Codec. This should do the trick, and ususally about any sort of DivX problems its better to use doom9 forums: http://doom9.org Share this post Link to post
Davros 0 Posted May 21, 2002 You could go to http://www.divx.com and download the free divx player and codec (one package). It's nifty. If you get the one with adware (Gain Trickler) in it, it is easily removed with AdAware , leaving divx working fine and ad-free. There is also another free version, with no ads, but it lacks some encoding abilities, which you probably won't use anyway. Share this post Link to post
