Hercules Gamesurround Fortissimo II DIGITAL EDITION

What's the difference between this card and the original fortissimo II? The tech specs on hercules homepage are identical and the cards seem identical by hardware and the drivers are the same. Is it possible to enable 5.1 sound through the original fortissimo II with a register hack on the drivers?

Only thing I can tell is the 5.1 channel sound and the $10 price drop.
