fogelmanjg 0 Posted May 24, 2002 which programs it converts from ntfs to fat? (c I have proven with partition magic and this refuses. this says that there are compressed files. Thank you JGustavo@fogelman.com.ar Share this post Link to post
Davros 0 Posted May 24, 2002 You cannot convert from NTFS to FAT. You can only convert to NTFS from FAT. If you want to go back to FAT from NTFS, you have to reformat. Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted May 24, 2002 Partition Magic will do it, but you will have to pay for that. Share this post Link to post
Admiral LSD 0 Posted May 24, 2002 Quote: How to convert ntfs (winxp) at fat32? (c Now why do you want to go and do a retarded thing like that? Share this post Link to post
Davros 0 Posted May 24, 2002 He probably needs the drive to be accessed by Win9x or something, I suppose. Ok, after re-reading this and paying attention, the problem is obvious, even though I've never used Partition Magic. You need to decompress all compressed files on each partition you want to convert before you try to do the conversion. Here's how to do that: 1. Open a command prompt by clicking Start->Run and typing cmd then pressing Enter. 2. Type cd\ and press enter. 3. To uncompress all files on this drive type compact /U /S /I and press enter. 4. To repeat this on other drives, type X: and press enter, where X is the drive letter. Then repeat step 3. Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted May 24, 2002 Odd, I guess I missed the "I have proven..." bit myself the first time as well. Share this post Link to post
theelviscerator 0 Posted May 24, 2002 He possibly might want to copy some data off of it to a drive formatted in FAT32 that could be read in a FAT system. Share this post Link to post
fogelmanjg 0 Posted May 25, 2002 For some strange reason, in my machine fat32 works MUCH faster that ntfs and I also burn the cdr in my other machine ntfs it is much faster ?????! Share this post Link to post
Admiral LSD 0 Posted May 25, 2002 In my book, a performance loss is an acceptable tradeoff for improved data integrity... Share this post Link to post
fogelmanjg 0 Posted May 25, 2002 Ok. I could make it! compact /u /i /s works ok! I use partition magic without problems. I converted at fat32. then again to ntfs. and now it works deluxe. thank you people... don't ask if it can be made... but: how?, does all cost? and does all take? Share this post Link to post
