Problems when installing WinXP

Recommended Posts

I tried to install win XP onto a brand new computer with Asus A7V333 a Creative GeForce 4400 and a 12gb HDD on the RAID controller.

I used the drivers disc as I did with my own computer with the same hardware. But as soon as windows goes into the 2nd installation phase (graphical user interface) I get an error message telling me that modules cannot be installed. Windows tells me that this is a critical error and installation cannot continue.

I tired differnet WindowsXP CDs and also used the HDD on the regular controller. I used a differnt CDROM driver and also changed the HDD.

I pulled out all the card, changed the position of the RAM and updated the bios.... nothing works.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ???

Hmm, try removing any and all "non-essential" hardware (if you haven't done so already), leave only a video card, cdrom, harddrive, etc.

I already tried that.

Have you tried the memory in a different computer to see if it really is working? If you have more than one stick, try one at a time. Do you have a network card installed? This computer comes with USB 2.0 support, but does your copy of XP recognize it as such?

I already tried to pull everything out of the computer ...

My own computer has almost the same hardware (Asus A7v333 + 1700+, same graphics card). And there has never been any problems installing WinXP.

I also tried Win98 with worked flawlessly.
