sapiens74 0 Posted June 6, 2002 I saw it somewhere in the forums about a command in the registry for the timeout for services shutting down faster. Can anyone give me some info on it. My XP takes too long to shut down Share this post Link to post

Christianb 8 Posted June 8, 2002 You should be able to save 5-20 seconds by disabling floppy scanning on shutdown. -Christian Share this post Link to post
Kysio 0 Posted June 10, 2002 Stop the nVidia service. In my case it works. Share this post Link to post
Christianb 8 Posted June 10, 2002 Did anyone bother to write NVidia and find out what that service does? Share this post Link to post
CyberGenX 0 Posted June 10, 2002 I never seen the service in action, always disable it right away! No problems here. Share this post Link to post
lumpy 0 Posted June 17, 2002 Ok, If you don`t know how how to modify the registry - Then DONT. Do so at your own risk. Go to Start -> Run and type "regedit". Go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control" click on the "Control" folder. In the right window you will see this key "WaitToKillServiceTimeout" Double click that key and set it to a value lower than 2000. I set mine to 100 then Rebooted. Works great.
