JeffF 0 Posted June 22, 2002 I have some old(?) games on my Win95 PC that I wanted to transfer to my new WinXP PC. These are the solitaire card games Cruel and Golf. When I tried to run the game, I got the following error message: One of the Library Files needed to run c:\games\whatever.exe cannot load in the 16-bit Windows subsystem because it is a Win32 DLL. Are these games lost forever? Is there any way to get them to run under WinXP? I read the FAQ and did what it said regarding trying to run the games in Compatibility Mode, and I got the same error. Could I be missing some file? Thanks, Jeff-f@juno.com Share this post Link to post
SHS 0 Posted June 22, 2002 Min older game do run but min of thoses game are base off dos calls. In your case you are miss some dll library file that make the game run it could smack, older c++, older vb runtime library or even older quicktime library that min game programmer using a long time go. The best thing is reinstall the game. Compatibility Mode is only useful with some windows base game not dos base games. Share this post Link to post
pmistry 0 Posted June 22, 2002 I have Cruel and it works fine under XP and 2000. The only game I have an issue with is Jezzball, sound won't work under 2000 but will under XP. You might be missing some files or something, I can send you this stuff in a zip, give it a try. Share this post Link to post
Alien 1 Posted June 23, 2002 I wanted to play Gods last nite, but it didn't want to work - it got as far as displaying the first couple of frames of the intro sequence, & that was it - it just froze. Share this post Link to post
