three 0 Posted June 26, 2002 lately i've been noticing slow downs on my d: drive and i checked the ide properties and noticed this: Device 0 : UDMA5 Device 1: PIO mode I have a Maxtor 15gig on Master and IBM 40gig on Slave for IDE 1. Reason I placed it on the same channel was cause that was the only one that has ATA100 while the other channel is regular ATA66. Should I just go ahead and place the IBM on IDE 2? Hykster 0 Posted June 29, 2002 You might want to swap the 15GB HD and the 40GB HD. Instead of the 15 as a Master, use it as a Slave and the 40 as a Master. You'll notice a huge speed increase. Share this post Link to post
Alien 1 Posted June 29, 2002 I had a similar prob recently with my CDRW, if you have a VIA chipset then read the CDRW Weirdness thread for the solution. Share this post Link to post
three 0 Posted June 30, 2002 heh, uninstalled ide channel 1, rebooted, and now it's back to Ultra DMA Mode 5, probably the latest Via 4-in-1's screwed it up. Thanks Share this post Link to post
