Windows 2000/TB Santa Cruz

Recommended Posts

Howdy folks! First time posting here so if I make a booboo, just slap me!

Alright, I have a few questions for you hardware gurus smile

Right now I have a SB Live! 5.1 X-gamer with Windows 2000. I've been running on a windows 2000 installation for about 4-6 months now. And just now I am starting to get that "snapping" "crackling" "static" sound when playing music or just gaming. I'm on an Abit Kr7a, XP/10.5x146FSB. I have had this card for some time now and I just think it's about time I give it a rest and pass it along to ebay or bbr. Anywho! I am thinking of grabbing the Santa Cruz 6C PCI #TBS-3400-01

I have checked out some reviews and comparisons and so far, this card seems top notch. I am just wondering if people have had any problems with this card and Windows 2000. Mainly stable drivers, ect.. I will be buying this card OEM from newegg and I am wondering if the OEM cd based driver set comes with default Windows 2000 drivers. TIA!

I have the Santa Cruz card and I can say that it was alot better than my SBLive Value card that I had before...

I don't know about the CD as i never use it now but if it does not come with Win2K drivers just download the latest from the webiste which I am using now with no probs. Hope this helps!

Right now I am using it on PCI #2, what PCI slot should I use the Santa Cruz in? I have an Abit kr7a.

I have mine is PCI 2 also....do not know about the KR7a but had a KT7A-RAID before and it worked in PCI 2 which I think is because the slot is not a shared IRQ have a look in your manual and it should tell you.
