Interstate 82 on XP

Recommended Posts

Anyone got this to run? It is listed as working on the list but I can't get it to. It installs OK, and then the movies play fine and the menu pops up...but as soon as I try to go into the actual gameplay I get a window that says "i82stub.exe" has encountered a problem..etc. The really weird thing is I downloaded the demo and it works perfectly. I tried the compatibility fixes, installed and ran it as an administrator, followed the suggestions on the FAQ on this forum and still nothing. Any ideas?

Thanks for responding DosFreak..if anyone can figuire this out you can. There are no patches for the game. Plenty of Interstate 76, but none for 82.

I also recently decided to dust off I 82 and am having a similar problem. At first I would get the i82stub error but after trying a few times it started to lock up at the loading screen. Any help would be appreciated

I have tried absolutely EVERYTHING ;( (compatibility modes.... renaming the exe file) I would be in debt to the person who can find a working fix for this....

If you run WinXP Professional Edition, simply right click on i82stub.exe and set it to "Win 98 compatibility mode". This will get the game working.

However if you run WinXP Home Edition, you may also need to delete the following file: "aclayers.dll" as well as enable the 98 compatibilty mode.

I don't know what this file is or what it does, but Home users whom can't play i82 will need to delete this file in order to load i82. This is a Windows component which will self restore if found to be missing. Load i82 as soon as you delete this or it will be re-created and you'll have to do it again and be faster next time. Don't worry about deleting it, since it self restores, no harm will come to your operating system. You only need to delete it in order to load i82. Once i82 has loaded the file won't affect you.
