Demon Bane 0 Posted November 27, 1999 I've been hacking away at windows for the past 9 hours trying to get the blasted modem to work, and it just isn't working. When the modem gets detected, it comes up as "Telepath 56k Winmodem with x2". It never asks me if I want to install the drivers or anything, it just installs the drivers and labels it "3Com 56k Winmodem TI". I can establish a connection anywhere, but I can't "use" it. Any incoming data comes in as an error. I've tried setting the port speed to anything from 57600 to 9600 and it doesn't fix it. (In both the modem config and the dial up config.) I can't maintain a connection to ANYTHING (including my ISP.) I've tried both "Standard 56k with x2" and "Generic 10/100 + modem" drivers, and neither works. (The generic "combo" driver is the only one I have listed.) Any suggestions? Share this post Link to post
peaje 0 Posted November 30, 1999 Ummm.. i had a gateway that came with that modem.. telepath X2 56 i believe.. Had you try installing the NT 4.0 drivers for that modem?? like up[censored] the drivers? Does it works in other OS? (Win9x). The drivers that Win 2000 choose to adapt to the modem should work. This modem is made by US Robotics i believe. If you can not get it to work with this options and if you are testing Win 2000 then BUG it. Later Share this post Link to post
Demon Bane 0 Posted November 30, 1999 The modem works just fine in win 98. I tried looking for the NT drivers, but USR has about 10 different models of the modem, all with different NT drivers. I tried using the detect utility from their page but it didn't identify the modem. Any driver information you could give me would be greatly appreciated. As for the default drivers, the modem "works" because it can dial and, sometimes, connect. However, it can't receive information at all. All it receives is errors. If I reboot and go into win 98 however, it works fine. Very odd. Share this post Link to post
