NXSpad 0 Posted July 6, 2002 Whenever I try and run a DirectX game, I get an error telling me that windows can't initialise DirectX. If I run the Direct3D test in dxdiag, I get the following error: Direct3D test results: Failure at step 8 (Creating 3D Device): HRESULT = 0x887602eb (error code) I'm running a 1.2Gig Athlon with a 64Mb GF2 MX (Det 29.42) and 256Mb RAM. 2K Server with SP2 and DX8.1 for 2K. Any ideas? Share this post Link to post
JediBaron 0 Posted July 6, 2002 Have you run the AMD/AGP patch for Win2k? http://www.amd.com/us-en/assets/content_type/utilities/largePageMinimum.reg Try that and then reboot. Share this post Link to post
JP- 0 Posted July 6, 2002 That shouldnt prevent it initialising DX though, just sounds like its not installed correctly !?!? I take it youve tried reinstalling 8.1? Share this post Link to post
NXSpad 0 Posted July 6, 2002 Several times. I've also reinstalled the det drivers twice. Share this post Link to post
pmistry 0 Posted July 7, 2002 Try up[censored] the chipset drivers. Reinstall the AGP part. Share this post Link to post
