Dual monitors question...

Recommended Posts

Ok, I just installed dual monitors, everything seems to be working in relativly good order except ONE THING!

The secondary PCI card says it is the #1 card under the Display Properties in stead of the #2 device.

How do I get my good AGP GeForce 3 ti 200 to be my #1 device and not #2???

I can't play CS with the other PCI on the settings I want the way it is. confusedfrown

In your BIOS there will be a setting that deals with initialising order of PCI/AGP.

Set the option to initialise AGP first and your problems will be fixed.

HOWEVER - if your PCI card is a S3 it will not work as secondary. Also some other brands have the same issue.

Whe I did this I bought a 2mb Matrox Millenium and everything worked fine.

kew kew

also good to get the same card as your first, this can prevent driver issues an such.

or just get a new nvidia, ati, or matrox card smile they all have dual, and matrox has triple dislay smile

but that is if u need to upgrade.

point of interest

the 2nd monitor on the nvidia cards plugs into the dvi port with an adapter.

some cad/cam programs wont run in gl mode on the "secondary" monitor.

i havent tried pro/e or sdrc on it yet, but solidworks, surfcam, cimatron, command and mastercam dont.

it has sunthin to do with gl acceleration on 2 devices.

^^^^^

thnx for the info

that is pretty messed, perhaps open gl was not designed to be split up or something...lol

the matrox at least just uses one plug, that splits into 2, then has an extra conneciton as well, ithink it is DVI.. dunno.
