You do know the GF4 MX's aren't even GF4's don't you?

 

They're riced out GF2's but still, for the price they're a steal, especially if you don't take your PC gaming all that seriously (like me).

So you say that a GF4 MX is just a GF2 on steriods?...ive heard bout that...do you know what the major differences are between those two cards? cuz i was thinking bout getting a GF4 MX 440. Does a GF2 supports DirectX 8.1? and how much faster is a GF4 mx 440 then say a GF2 ultra?

Apparently the GF4 MX lacks the nFinite FX pixel shaders that both the GF3 and GF4 have meaning it's not even fully compliant with DirectX 8 let alone 8.1. It does have the Lightspeed Memory Architecture (whatever that refers to...) and better anti-aliasing but thats about it. In addition, it als has what nVidia call a "Video Processing Engine" which I'm led to believe is a fancy way of saying that is has an on-chip TV coder and MPEG2 decoder which is great if you plan to watch DVDs. According to benchmarks I've seen it's supposedly not much better than a GF2 Ultra. I plan to buy one regardless seeing as they're cheap (less than 200 Aussie smackers for a generic MX 440) and have all the power I need in the short term.

Ah i see, ive seen a MSI GF4 MX 440 for $180 aussie dollars, so might go snatch that up before someone gets it Even if its basically a GF2 on steriods..its still newer technology

i was just wondering why you need a PCI-graphics-card?

What will you do with 2 Graphic-card? dual-screen?

This is something all Geforce4 supports with just one card!

I want a PCI graphics card because the graphics card that I have is built-in. It has only 16mb of RAM. I just want better graphics for my games. Also, I will disable the built-in one. I would like to get an AGP grapics card but my system does not have a slot for it.

i had ehard it was a G3 card it was based on.

get an ATI Radeon 7500 - 64mb card, $80 US, or canadian.

Gf4 MX is a suped up GF2, there is really no reason to buy 1 at all, as im sure you could get at least a GF3 ti200 for the same money.

 

Then you get to look at the lovely pixel shaded water

GF3's start at AUD$100-200 more than the GF4MX and lack the Video Processing Engine. I couldn't care less about pixel shaded water
