Jerry Atrik 0 Posted July 28, 2002 it's somewhere here sysoc.inf you will see a line like this ims=imsinsnt.dll,OcEntry,ims.inf,hide,7 make it look like this (take the hide out) ims=imsinsnt.dll,OcEntry,ims.inf,,7 there are a few lines u can do that too and remove unwanted bloat-ware Share this post Link to post
CUViper 0 Posted July 28, 2002 Or just run this command: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove Share this post Link to post
Catdog02 0 Posted July 30, 2002 Just make sure you don't download any patches or fixes for it from MS.com, once installed on an Enterprise ver of XP Pro, Messenger refuses to budge. Which is annoying, especially if you've uninstalled it from 20 machines, and then run the XP upgrades without looking at what they all are. Share this post Link to post

Jerry Atrik 0 Posted July 30, 2002 updates dont reinstall messenger just reinstall it (shoulda been a little more clear) Share this post Link to post
embj 0 Posted July 30, 2002 You mean that it does not install it when it is required to have it with MSN? It is still not there? It says that it installed it. When I click on it in start menu it does not say that it is looking for it. It just does nothing. Share this post Link to post
Catdog02 0 Posted July 31, 2002 Quote: updates dont reinstall messenger just reinstall it (shoulda been a little more clear) Take a standard Enterprise edition of XP, build it, Uninstall Messenger using the sysoc.inf mod, then run Windows update and try to tell me that it doesn't install, and subsequently cannot be removed. Go do it now, I dare you Share this post Link to post
