RoGuE 0 Posted December 6, 1999 first if you want the speeds im getting over isdn you need to throw the isdn modem in trash and get a router....i have found good routers at ebay for real reasonable prices. And as far as the firmware update goes...i hope you saved the firmware that was in your t/a before, cause i would suggest going back to the firmware that worked.....i had an adtran 3000 connected to my computer before{isdn modem} and my download speeds sucked. the reason is the shortcomings of using a com port versus a nic card....when you use a com port you take a 20k a sec hit right off the bat because the fastest your com will run is 115k..and its like a 56k modem for the fact that your connection speed could be slow too. with the router i connect at true 128k and can use compression which jumps me too 230k....my downloads before were at a snails pace{5k to 10k} now the slowest i get is 18k. so if your looking for speed on isdn get rid of the old isdn t/a, modem and get ya a router. also you have to be carefull and dont make the same mistake i did, get a router that will support dynamically assigned ip addresses from your isp. you can contact me on icq and i can help ya find a good one......
