I have had the pleasure to gain (just recently) a very high position laugh with a company that manufactures digital VCRs. I would like to know what your thoughts are on the available brands and which you think is the best. I cannot disclose the company whom I am contracted by. And let's pretend that they all cost within $40 of each other for the box and within $10 for any monthly service fees. For my own company research which would you buy?

Also free email (free email account) for the life of my company to the first POST (person) in this forum to guess which of these companies I work for.

After looking at each what are your thoughts on the future of this media which will be in millions of homes by the year 2004.

Here are the links to each...

OK here is how I see it. All of the "digital VCR's" or PVR is just a way Corps found to charge people for recording shows off of TV. You know something people have been able to do for FREE since VCR's. It just makes me want to frown .

Now that is out of the way I would buy one that allowed me to record while watching at the same time WITHOUT having to pay for the "priv".

OH forgot one. It would also have to have the ability to allow me to offload the show to removable media like DVD. I know I am not asking for much wink . I just feel like the consumer is told it is a step forward and not told they are also taking two steps back.

DVD Recorders are the way we should go forget these, with a dvd recorder we can keep programs but with these the programs have to be deleted to record another. I see them as a big step back when we cant keep our programs like on VHS Tapes.

CyberGenX thoses PVR device are use less

1: You can't copy the mpeg file from them.

2: You can't record to a CD/DVD disk.

3: You can't edit the clips.

4: Cost to much.

5: Not very upgrade.

Hauppauge WinTV-PVR 250/350 is far more useful that cost far less.
