pmistry 0 Posted August 9, 2002 I use a modified keyboard/mouse setup. Fire = First Mouse Button Alt. Fire = X Forward = Second Mouse Button Backward = S Strafe Left = A Strafe Right = D Next Weapon = W Prev. Weapon = E Crouch = Z Jump = Space Use = Q Mouse is always inverted for me, not used to the other way. I use R for reloading, F, V, and C for any other special functions. Like in Deus Ex I use C to change ammo or F for sprinting in RTCW. I also still use Enter for inventory items and the square bracket keys to scroll that stuff. Share this post Link to post

Brian Frank 0 Posted August 9, 2002 fire=left mouse 2nd fire=right mouse forward=W back=S strafe left=A strafe right=D jump=space crouch=C everything else, I pretty much leave as is. and yeah, that's pretty much the half-life/quake defaults, save the crouch/jump which is from Unreal. Works great. Share this post Link to post
Qdogforeva 0 Posted August 9, 2002 forward=f back=d straferight=s strafeleft=a jump=e crouch=c reload=r weapon change=mouse wheel zoom/item change=q, w use=middle mouse fire=left mouse This feels very comfortable....as it is the "home row"......and allows for many optional keys to be laid around it for other features. pmistry 0 Posted August 9, 2002 I could never move forward with w properly or any other key, had to be mouse button 2, thanks to Quake 2 mostly setting it as a default. I believe it was Quake 2 where I first started playing like this. (using a mouse for FPS). Before I used to use the keyboard for everything, back in DOS FPS days. Share this post Link to post
INFERNO2000 0 Posted August 9, 2002 Quake2 is my first game I went with a mouse keyboard combo as opposed to just keyboard. Oh...and even better: I used a trackball instead. trackball and ergo keyboard are to blame for my config. but I'll be damned if it doesn't work perfectly for me fucks everyone else up...but oh well. Xiven 0 Posted August 14, 2002 For most games it's: W = forward S = backwards A = strafe left D = strafe right Space = jump Ctrl = crouch Mouse1 = attack 1 Mouse2 = attack 2 (alt fire) Mouse3 = use (if applicable) which is more-or-less the defaults for most games. Except in Tribes 2 where I use the default ESDF controls. Share this post Link to post
