RC3 v. RC2

Recommended Posts

Hmmm... I just finished up[censored] my RC2 computer to RC3. I think that it seems a tad bit faster - is this just my imagination or has anyone else noticed this?

Further, does anyone know what the big changes were to RC3? I have already noticed that some drivers for my hardware were updated but then some weren't - not that that's any big deal.

Also, would it be possible for the submission area of NT Compatible to have a build or SP entry for each submission? For example, I've got this HP DJ970Cse that worked in Duplex in beta 3 with HP drivers, but with RC2, HP drivers would no longer install - rendering duplex capability null.

Regards...

Happy Win2K'ing...

I've certainly noticed that RC3 is faster han RC2 - probably due to reduction in debug code and closer-to-final drivers.

Also, there is a "build2194" directory on the Ms FTP site...

Build 2194... that must be the "post-RC3" release that I had heard about. Well, I can't get it, I can only get what MSDN Universal Subscribers get (and RC3 was setup for download just last week for MSDN.)

Oh well...

Just FYI, I've had a total of two crashes with Win2K - over a period of around a month. The first had to do with allowing Adaptec EZCD4 to "try" to close the MS CD Deluxe player - resulted in a BSOD - and the second was just a general freeze after 8 days of normal usage - I leave about 5 programs running all the time.... The second one concerns me because no error was generated and nothing showed up in the error logs - except for the restart of the error log. But for the most part, this is a happy experience considering the nightmare that NT 4 gave me.

Regards....
