AdrianX 0 Posted August 12, 2002 APK I don´t use WINS because each PC have your own Name. I use TCP/IP networking without DHCP, each PC have your own IP Address. Can you send me the GUI Program for the net command to me email address amitiski@hotmail.com Thnks Share this post Link to post
AdrianX 0 Posted August 14, 2002 Quote: Sure can, on its way... I just sent it minutes after this edit of this post I just did in reply to you in fact! Remember: This program only works on Windows NT4/2000/XP though... not on 9x! (9x has its own tool for this anyhow, WinPopup... iirc! Those little 9x specifics are starting to fade here.) * APK P.S.=> If you have mixed Os on your LAN there, I would like to hear how this works out for you, & if you like it as well & does the job & is easy to use compared to console mode NET SEND commandlines... thanks! Feedback is always appreciated... apk Alec. Have you a download site for that app because mi hotmail quota is 1 Mb Thanks Share this post Link to post
Shaft23 0 Posted August 23, 2002 ok i got the file and i installed the NT graphical messaging system. it says it is installed in APK NT Command Center....where the heck is that!? Share this post Link to post
clutch 1 Posted August 23, 2002 WINS and NetBEUI go hand-in-hand (can't have WINS without NetBIOS), and WINS would help out a ton if you can install it on a NT Server on your network. However, the machine that is receiving fast is doing so because it can be resolved quickly on the network, whereas it takes a lot longer to find others on its own. You could use the LMHOSTS file, enter the NetBIOS names and static IPs according to the example on it, and remove the .SAM extension from it to enable it. This should help that machine out with resolving the other clients names. Share this post Link to post
