Upgrading computer

I'm upgrading my computer or to be more correct building a new.

 

As part of this I'm planning on moving my primary hard drive from my old computer to my new computer, but will that mean that I have to reinstall Windows 2000 or do I have any way of making it work in my new computer?

slap the hard disk in and all of your old stuff should work fine, but the problem is that your motherboard drivers and resources will reload, new hardware and old hardware drivers may have problems with each other and stuff. clean install will help you get the most performance out of your new PC.

A clean install is always the best choice, but if you REALLY want to avoid a new install you can boot into Safe mode on the first boot and remove pretty much everything that you can in Device Manager. This is a crude way of cleaning up references to old hardware and drivers. I don't believe that this will remove all the info stored in the registry though. And, though this is a good way to keep the system from having conflicts, you will not see a full gain from the new hardware unless you completely reinstall everything nice and fresh.

You can, but it could be a problem down the road. I'd do it now when you can make time for it rather than later on when you need to but at a less convient time.
