Why do some video files play on WMP6.4 but not on WMP8?

I have wondered this for a while

I think it's because the old version came with better or more plug-ins then the newer one! Don't know why, but the old WMP seems better sometimes!

and this is why i use PowerDVD will play anything!

 

 

also, i hate media player, i will listen to some mp3's and every other song it has to download a codec and yet winamp never does.!
