iks 0 Posted September 9, 2002 Oh godness why are people always using some kind of hacks and file editings to remove such a simple things like Messenger? Everyone says: Messenger is sh** you need to edit this file, go to add/remove programs and if you have some luck and if you ruined this file the right way, you would be able to remove Messenger... Oh please... and all this anti-spy-sthings... Well okay... everything you have to do is: 1. Click START | RUN... | type "gpedit.msc" and click OK The "Group Policy" window shuld appear; 2. On the left-side tree go to: "Administrative Templates" -> "Windows Components" -> "Windows Messenger" 3. Now on the right side "Do now allow Windows Messenger to be rung" and "Do not automatically start Windows Messenger initially" appears. Double click on first option ("Do now allow Windows Messenger to be run") to see it's properies and set it to "Enabled". 4. Go to Next Setting ("Do not automatically start Windows Messenger initially") and Enable it too. And now Windows Messenger shuld never ever appear again... But I must say that I got used to it and now I really like it... Share this post Link to post
ThC 129 0 Posted September 10, 2002 edit your sysoc.inf it will be in c:\windows\inf\ anything that says HIDE change to nothing. Then you can go to add/remove programs and axe it out. Or you can kill the program folder in safe mode. Share this post Link to post
