Immortal 0 Posted September 6, 2002 Hi all, i was wondering how i can limit internet bandwidth with my bro's computer in our network using ICS. I currently have a 512/256 connection and i want to limit my bro to only 120/40 (its not fair but that translates to 15KB/s downloads and 5KB/s uploads). How can i acheive this? Is there some setting that allows me to reserve so much bandwidth for myself? Thanx! Share this post Link to post

DS3Circuit 0 Posted December 11, 2002 QoS Windows 2000 style goes a little like this 1. You need Win2k Server to actually do the "bandwidth shaping". 2. Admission Control service needs to login as a service account on all the computers needing QoS 3. Your NIC and its drivers need to support 802.1p and MUST have it enabled in the device manager. IIRC those are the major sets for setup ... after that you configure the QoS through the ACS Am I missing something else here that he might need to know? Share this post Link to post
Admiral LSD 0 Posted December 11, 2002 Quote: 1. You need Win2k Server to actually do the "bandwidth shaping". OUCH! You're looking down the barrel of a couple of thousand US for that right away... Is there a cheaper option? Linux perhaps? Share this post Link to post
huggis 0 Posted December 29, 2002 QoS can be rather tricky to configure and takes a lot of effort and money... A far more simple way to achieve bandwith restrictions is to install Sygate office network. It comes with a cost of approx. 110 $ though ;( You can download a demo from here: http://soho.sygate.com/products/access_ov.htm Share this post Link to post
