DrSchmoe 0 Posted December 15, 1999 Not to be rude, but I am pretty certain God has better things to do than fix your computer system. Make sure you have "assign IRQ to VGA" set in your BIOS (look into a BIOS upgrade as well). Furthermore, use the drivers included with Win2k. The 3.6x drivers are still too tempramental to debug with. Next, try booting into safe mode. Your monitor may be incorrectly set. Select a different monitor from device manager. Were you using a laptop? I have seen several running 2K where the LCD panel never comes on. Boot with an external monitor and switch over to LCD after you are in the GUI. Granted, in this situation you probably wouldn't have a TnT2, so I guess this last paragraph was moot... Good luck, DrSchmoe Share this post Link to post
Ekstreme 0 Posted December 15, 1999 Seaweed, go search seldzar or chameleons sites for the 3.6* drivers. Although if you cannot get into 2k at all this is no good. If you can boot with safe mode (press F8 to get the menu) you should be able then to install the drivers. Whatever you do, don't listen to DrSchmoe, the MS drivers are VERY basic and obviously do not work at all, so that don't solve your prob anyhows does it? Perhaps the newer ones are somewhat buggy (I don't have any probs) but they are better than nothing. You'd be crazy to use the MS drivers, not that you can!! Once installed, replace the 3.6* nvoglnt.dll (I think) with the 3.53 version, it's apparently less buggy *shrug* Good luck Share this post Link to post
Seaweed 0 Posted December 16, 1999 First of all I use a desktop and also i flashed my bios with the newest agp flash. and also when i got into safe mode it will not let me change any drivers settings without freesing the device manager. I even installed a different version of win2k to see if it would then let me change drivers while in safe mode but again it would just continualy lock up the device manager. If you got anymore ideas please reply thanks Seaweed Share this post Link to post
OneHotRS 0 Posted December 16, 1999 Let's clear up a few things shall we? All bashing aside now, let's all play nice. Win2K as of RC2 as far as I know ships with TNT2 drivers that work fine for 2D. i.e. this means that the desktop should work fine with default drivers. It did on mine and several others. Next, the biggest culprit is probably in the BIOS. There is a setting in there that says "Assign IRQ to VGA: Y/N" somewhere. Each board is different. IF this is set to "NO" the TNT2 will never work. It MUST be set to "YES". If that doesn't help, let me know and maybe we can dig a little deeper. Good Luck Share this post Link to post
