SwashbucklerDude 0 Posted September 20, 2002 Hey all, This is my first post Nice Forum! ------------ OK, here's the deal. I am so annoyed by the fact that Windows XP puts a discription in front of the computername in my network places. I am in a 1200 node network here and I have to look through about 200 Servers/PC's in My network places to get to things sometimes. I loved how Windows 2000/NT/98/95 would simply put the computername in alphabetical order. No Longer! I've searched for months to find something to get only the "computername" and nothing else to display in Windows XP's My Network Places. I will reinstall Windows 2000 if I cannot fix this ! ! ! How Invasive of Microsoft!!! All help is appreciated. Share this post Link to post
bluekelt 0 Posted September 22, 2002 Try this - right click a space and click on Arrange Icons By Computer then Click on Show in Groups. This will arrange them in order of computer name and seperate them into alphabetical groups so that you can find each computer. Doesn't change the names of the links but makes it easier to find individual computers. Hope that is of some help, Blue Share this post Link to post
SwashbucklerDude 0 Posted September 23, 2002 I can arrange by computername, but "show in groups" is grayed out. Sorry .........good try Share this post Link to post

SwashbucklerDude 0 Posted September 23, 2002 That doesn't work. Are any of you trying the stuff yourself before you tell me? That removes the comment for when you're viewing "details". Not the comment that is there that is a discription. Please help.... Thanks for the suggestions so far... Share this post Link to post
