ConQueso 0 Posted November 6, 2002 Has anyone had any luck using ACT 2.5 getting a game to run better than it would run with ACT 1.5/2.0? Share this post Link to post
ConQueso 0 Posted November 13, 2002 Oops, didn't realize ACT 2.6 was out. Well, I tried out (Pod) Racer again. First time without QFixApp to see what SP1 might've done. First off, in XP it passed the sysreq tests, and I don't think it passed all of them the first time I tried it in XP. Second, the menu interface didn't have issues when trying to configure a joystick. None of that mattered much, as when I launched a game and wasn't even treated to the pre-race camera views before the screen went all one color (save the HUD). Then of course, the game failed to respond after the race started. So, I tried with QFixApp, Win98 layer. No improvement... Anyone know if there are any new fixes that might help this bug? Oh, also the movies were jerky, and I don't remember that being a problem before. Once again, it's nice of LucasArts not to put out a simple patch for this. While I'm ranting about LucasArts, what's the deal with Galactic Battlegrounds? The civs seem more homogenous than the AoE2 ones though clearly they should be more different. One civ "unique" tech wasn't even unique, it just had a unique name as the same technology is available for another civ under a different name (the market price one). Seemed that rather than test the gameplay consequences of more interesting civ specific bonuses, they just went the safe route and made them so slight I don't know why they even bothered. And the TIE bombers, come on! What, they can't shoot at other aircraft? Seems like they could in the movies... Oh, and the rebel recruits or whatever they were called looked like they spent more time in a bad tap-dancing school than in military training. Share this post Link to post
